A rare ARNTZ COBRA (1981) produced in only 64 units worldwide between 1976 and 1981 - a true haute couture product!
Renowned as the first brand to pay tribute to CARROLL SHELBY'S AC COBRA, this ARNTZ COBRA is exceptional in its rarity and condition.
This top-of-the-range replica has an "extra something": historically, it is linked to the famous Carroll Shelby, as Steve ARNTZ was an engineer at SHELBY AMERICAN.
It's also worth noting that ARNTZ cobras took part in SCCA championship races in 1976 (COCA COBRA RACE TEAM). As a result, an ARNTZ COBRA is now eligible for the VHC category.
An ARNTZ can thus take part in official historic competitions, after obtaining a PTH.
ARNTZ had his vision of the ideal AC COBRA: a COBRA corrected of the many defects of the original versions.
For collectors and Gentlemans Drivers who still doubt the heritage value of a COBRA ARNTZ ENGINEERING, note that :
- Steve ARNTZ and his partner Ron BUTLER worked for CARROL SHELBY when the original Shelby COBRA was designed. Ron Butler was a member of Ken MILES' GT40 team at Le Mans in 1966.
- ARNTZ cobras are engineering cars, where everything has been designed with performance in mind:
- Chassis designed to support up to 800 hp, which was not the case with the Shelby Cobra, known for being too flexible.
Competition standards in the USA are so high that bodywork, paintwork, chassis and engine compartment finishing are far superior to an original AC SHELBY COBRA costing 2 million Euros. With over 1,000 hours devoted to its restoration and improvement, this ARNTZ COBRA is unique in the world.
If there's only one thing to remember, it's that in a COBRA ARNTZ, the engine has been moved back towards the cockpit to create an almost mid-engine car, which greatly improves the car's dynamic behavior, thanks also to its famous ultra-rigid chassis.
Powered by the best FORD engine available, the 351 Ho-Boss 5.8-liter displacement, a particularly reliable and generous engine, assembled by legendary engine builder RON BUTLER, developing around 400 hp and very torquey at low revs.
If we add to this the FORD TOP LOADER 4-speed gearbox, identical to the original COBRA, this ARNTZ is a "must have" in any collection, a true rarity with the added notoriety of its progenitor, a former CARROLL SHELBY collaborator.
- Custom-built ET RACING WHEELS, extra-wide tires for generous curves
- 4 disc brakes: rear jaguar-type, front ARNTZ Road Race optimized design
- Optimized weight distribution thanks to ARNTZ design: 56% of weight at rear thanks to engine set-back
(Original SHELBY cobras had 53% of their weight in the front)
- Numerous aircraft-style armoured hoses
- A host of aluminium parts machined from solid
- Axle ratio with a gear ratio offering a good road & track compromise
- customized aluminum tank
- Air intake on the hood to supply fresh air to the carburettor
Our car is for enthusiasts looking for more than just a COBRA replica.
