The SHELBY GT 500 is an automobile, created in 1967 during the restyling of the FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK dating from the same year, CARROLL SHELBY who produced his own Mustang under his brand, followed this evolution and took the opportunity to give his Mustangs a more personalized style and clearly stand out from the Mustangs produced by FORD.
Shelby made the decision to equip its range with a "high performance" model powered by the most powerful engine a Mustang had ever had under its hood, a 428 ci (7 L) FORD POLICE INTERCEPTOR V8 with dual carburetors, developing 360 HP according to the manufacturer, but actually close to 400. Thus was born the Shelby GT 500.
Produced in June 1967, the most sought-after year because it was still produced and assembled by hand in the workshops of Carroll SHELBY and not on the assembly line at FORD from 1968, delivered and sold by the FORD GOTHAM dealership in NEW YORK, then sold in California in 1976 and in Florida in 1987 after a first restoration, after a short stay in London, it was resold in Monaco in 2005 and brought joy to all its different owners until the last one in France who has owned it since March 2013, therefore French collector's registration.
We have a Marti Auto Works certificate confirming the vehicle's identification. Furthermore, this Mustang is listed in the 1997 Shelby American World Registry Book under registration number 2070.
Fully restored mechanically, engine, TOP LOADER FORD 4V manual gearbox, axle, steering, brakes, suspension, exhaust, tires, between 2018 and 2024 more than €45,000 in invoices, a complete file with supporting documents will be provided at the time of sale.
The floors and subframes are original, never replaced and perfectly maintained, no perforating rust, the chassis is also very sound and rust-free, never been in an accident of course.
